Friday Freakout, Vol. XXVII [Aug. 8th, 2008|07:22 pm]
dorktowerfeed

Am I the only person on teh internets freaking out that there’s war going on between Russia and Georgia right now?

****

Oh, bloody hell and dammit. It’s the last two regular season home games for the Mallards, already.

They made it into the playoffs next week y winning the first half of the Northwoods League South Division. However, the team kind of collapsed in the second half, finding new and exciting ways to lose almost every night.Their 11-20 record means that they’ve lost almost twice as many games as they’ve won in the second half.

It also means we really really really want the Waterloo Bucks or the Lacrosse Loggers to take the second half, if we’ve any hope at all of getting home field advantage.

Unfortunately, we play the Bucks tonight and tomorrow.

Grumble grumble grumble grumble.

Anyway, Daniel Logan, who portrayed Boba Fett in Star Wars Episode II will be at the Duck Pond tonight. Here’s a little drawing I did for the Mallards, for a handout they’ve been using:

I truly believe no news story this year can possibly get weirder than this one. Ever.

Dog-cloner denies she was Mormon sex kidnapper Joyce McKinney

It has:

* Cloning of a deceased pitbull in South Korea

* Mormon door-to-door missionary kidnapped and held as sex slave in mink-lined handcuffs at a 17th century English cottage

* International fugitive disguised as a nun holed up in AppalachianMountains

* Topless photos of 70s party girl

And these quotes:

“I loved him so much that I would ski naked down Mount Everest with a carnation up my nose if he asked me to.”

“I believe that Booger was an angel that God rented out to me for short period of time,” she said. “And he knew I would be lost without him, so he sent me some more. He sent me five more mini-Boogers.”

I am in awe of this story.

John

So I possibly have just entered that bad old world of grownups - just had my offer accepted on a house. Really pleased with it, but just hope surveys etc all come back ok. Offer was accepted with the condition that it exchanges within 28 days, so have spent quite a few moments this afternoon on frantic phone calls. Luckily I had most stuff in place so its not too much of a hassle.

So I look forward to being broke in a months time and for about 20 years!

It would appear that I am suddenly filled with a massive amount of excitement about next week. This is mainly due to the fact that my boss has spent the best part of this week off and on telling me that she didn't think I could have the week off after all, but has now recanted and said that I should go have a nice holiday.

Apparently taking a day off work (yesterday) due to massive panic attacks and stress, was the thing to do to cure this issue. The 'team' had a go at her for being evil... and now I am full of win again.

Is pretty cool as I told Arthur this morning that it was all off (so he is under the impression that we aren't going after all and I am the worst mum in the world...)Can't wait to get home and tell him that it's all on again!!!!

Was uber worried when I got called into an 'about your holiday' meeting today, as I had told Little Dave last night to go buy nice food!

Am so mega enthused, that I shall make gluten free cake.

I JUST CAN'T DO THIS.

Its once again, all too much.

I managed to give myself false hope... and now I don't know WHAT to feel.

Its over. I need to accept that and not hope for something to happen again. Because it wont.

I hate my space bar too. You really have to mash it.

Lex moved stuff out today.

I feel like everything is falling apart. Me included.

Oh, I'm not really answering calls or txts at the moment either. But I will when I'm better.

Broke the screen (dropped it) on my new iPhone a couple of days ago, £166 to get it repaired as I didnt have any insurance.

Moral of this story - take the insurance on mobile phones instead of telling them to piss off when they ask you about it.

Warcrack anyone? [Aug. 8th, 2008|10:23 am]

Soooooo
Interesting
Anyone I know feel as though the real world is getting too much and all they really want is to play some computer games for a few months?

Well if so, leave a comment below and I'll send you an invitation to start playing Warcrack. If you buy 2 months of playtime I get a really cool zebra to ride around so it's a win-win situation really.

Only apply if you would like your real life sucking away for a few months.

Thankyou for your time.

been away from LJ... [Aug. 7th, 2008|10:20 pm]

deadmandancing
hi everyone. been too busy for LJ recently so a bit out of the loop. but for now I had a thought I wanted to share...

While leasurly was pruning the mp3 collection I saw the Theme to Dave Allen At Large. Now I love comedy and not knowing much about Dave Allen apart from him being a comedian I did a quick youtube. Came up with an interesting sketch that made me think.

We're nearly a decade into the new millenium and you may think its only over the last few yrs with the public ban that smoking has become such a taboo. This sketch was done in 1984!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cT-BQLX6nU&NR=1

Social and cultual changes really do take so very long to take root and become law. Another comedic example is yes minister, which in the 70s & 80s was poking fun at the single currency, EU regulations, national ID database, the environment & public transport.

Well drove to Work and Back, Not dead.

Work was okay, was mostly the normal first day stuff, so inductions and Health and Safety, Lots and lots of H&S Mostly about what happens if water hits Molten Aluminium (I don't have a job and the company doesn't have a building) in the fantastic very 80 "Containers that Kill" Info avi file

Tonight watched England Legends vs Germany Legends (basically teams of old English/Germany players) and we Lost, Badly, 5-1 but it was (a) Funny to Watch the Healthy Germans vs the English teams who had eaten too many of the the Sponsers freebies (Pukka Pies) and (b) its was played in such a good spirit there were no yellow cards, no Diving and people just enjoying the game.

Okay, now that I have your attention.

I'm off to the GBBF tonight (and Saturday) - see people there after 6pm ish near the the Cider bar as it's a relatively central location (and near Fuds).

ETA: Buggrit - they've changed the layout, but I'm still going to the Appley goodness stand - which is conviently next to the glasses stand on the way in!
